Chimay Blue was first produced as a Christmas beer but became so popular they had to brew it all year long. It is a dark Trappist beer with a powerful aroma, and a complex flavour which improves across the years. It is considered to be the "classic" Chimay ale.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. It is also characterized by a vintage, meaning it can be cellared for several years and enjoyed when aged with different, more complex aromas. It can be aged up to 15 years. 9% ABV
