Description

Hacienda de Bañuelos Masparillo is produced using an extremely rare agave that grows wild on hills of the Bañuelos property in the state of Zacatecas. The wild Masparillo agaves are short and squat. The plants take 12 years to mature and are difficult to farm. The Bañuelos family are the first to produce mezcal from this agave in the region. After being cooked in an underground brick oven for 72 hours, the cooked agaves are crushed with a tahona and fermented with wild yeasts before being double distilled.
